At these words, Su Muqing and Liu Xiaoxiao were instantly stunned.
“Sir... Sir, are you sure?” The sales assistant trembled, her face filled with excited disbelief.
“Stop wasting time, quickly get me the other pendant. I’m paying now.” Shen Yifei demanded.
“Yes, yes, yes!” The sales assistant nodded furiously, like a bird pecking at grain, her heart surging with wild joy. This was truly hitting the jackpot with a wealthy, eligible bachelor!
“Shen Yifei, do you… do you have the money?” Su Muqing frowned, stepping forward to ask quietly.
“Money? I still have some.” Shen Yifei smiled.
“You… why are you buying two?” Liu Xiaoxiao asked suspiciously.
“Didn’t you like it too? The other one is, of course, for you. Don’t worry, I’ll still pay you back for what I owe you from last time.” Shen Yifei replied with a grin.
“Cough, cough…” Liu Xiaoxiao choked, feeling a bit speechless, yet a faint sense of happiness stirred within her.
Shen Yifei paid a million without batting an eye, and the women in the jewelry store all looked on with starry-eyed adoration. Now *this* was a truly wealthy and desirable man!
If a man were to buy them such expensive jewelry, they wouldn’t hesitate, and might even put on new lace lingerie to spend the night with him right then and there.
The blonde woman was a little dumbfounded. Shen Yifei could actually pay, and buy two at once? Then why had he just said he couldn’t afford it?
Zhang Wenzhi’s face was twisted with venomous resentment. He simply couldn't stomach the humiliation. He immediately pulled out his phone from his pocket, walked to a corner, and dialed a number: “Hello, Chief Liu. Someone is assaulting me here at the Hong Kong Jewellers on the pedestrian street. Please send some people over to handle it quickly.”
“What? Someone dared to assault you, Mr. Zhang? Mr. Zhang, rest assured, I’ll send people over immediately!” A middle-aged man’s voice came from the phone.
“Hmph!” Hanging up the phone, a cold sneer flickered across Zhang Wenzhi’s lips.
He had thought of such a brilliant idea. Since he couldn’t openly send people to take down Shen Yifei, he could use legal means, like getting the police to cooperate and thoroughly teach this brat a lesson.
No matter how formidable Shen Yifei was, he wouldn’t dare assault a police officer, would he? Even if he did, Zhang Wenzhi would have even more ways to properly deal with him.
Soon, the other aquamarine pendant was also brought over. Liu Xiaoxiao tried it on, unable to part with it.
“Sir, here are the certificate and invoice for the premium aquamarine pendant. Please keep them safe!” The sales assistant bowed slightly, stepping forward to hand over the invoice and certificate.
Shen Yifei nodded, putting away the packaging box and invoice.
“Hmph, this is the first time a man has ever given me jewelry,” Liu Xiaoxiao said airily. She thought, *This was my money anyway, but at least he’s spending it on me. You’ve got some conscience, you lout!*
“Shen Yifei, where did you get the money?” Su Muqing asked curiously.
Shen Yifei looked at Liu Xiaoxiao, feeling a bit awkward, and coughed, saying, “Don’t worry about it too much, as long as you like it.”
Su Muqing’s expression became a little unnatural. His words were a bit too ambiguous. Her relationship with Shen Yifei wasn’t *that* close, was it?
Speaking of which, a man buying jewelry for a woman often carried an intimate connotation. However, Shen Yifei had bought one for Liu Xiaoxiao as well, so Su Muqing didn’t misunderstand anything, though she couldn’t deny a certain expectation blooming in her heart.
Just as Shen Yifei and the two women walked out of the jewelry store,
police sirens suddenly blared outside, and several police cars stopped in front of Hong Kong Jewellers.
Car doors opened, and seven or eight police officers stepped out, entering the store.
Zhang Wenzhi’s heart leaped with joy, and he eagerly went to greet them.
“Hello, Mr. Zhang. What happened?” The leading middle-aged police officer asked obsequiously.
This officer was named Liu Xiang, the Chief Officer of the local precinct’s Police Affairs Department, responsible for maintaining public order in the surrounding area.
Su Muqing and Liu Xiaoxiao exchanged glances, a hint of worry appearing on their pretty faces. They hadn't expected things to escalate this much.
“Chief Liu, it’s him! This man used violence against me!” Zhang Wenzhi pointed at Shen Yifei, shouting frantically.
Liu Xiang was startled. *Good heavens, someone actually dared to hit Zhang Wenzhi?*
Who was Zhang Wenzhi? He was the son of the chairman of Zhang’s Pharmaceutical Group and its new heir, owning several famous large hospitals. He had connections in both official and business circles, and countless people were desperate to curry favor with Young Master Zhang. Liu Xiang was one of them.
Shen Yifei frowned. He really was encountering a lot of trouble today!
“Mr. Zhang, are you injured anywhere?” To show his concern for Zhang Wenzhi, Liu Xiang hurriedly leaned in to ask.
“Chief Liu, my face was swollen by this fellow! Quickly, arrest this brat!” Zhang Wenzhi yelled, pointing at Shen Yifei.
Liu Xiang pointed at Shen Yifei, shouting sternly at the officers behind him: “What are you standing around for? Quickly apprehend this hooligan!”
“Officer, it’s a bit too presumptuous of you to arrest someone without understanding the situation first,” Su Muqing stepped forward and said gravely.
Liu Xiaoxiao followed suit, saying, “Officer, my friend merely slapped this person. Can that really be considered a crime worthy of arrest? Why don’t we just try to negotiate a settlement?”
“I am Liu Xiang, Chief Officer of the Qinghu District Public Security Bureau’s Police Affairs Department. I don’t need you common folk telling me how to do my job,” Liu Xiang said with a contemptuous expression.
With a single glance, Shen Yifei could tell what kind of person this fellow was. He chuckled, “Just a single slap, and you want to arrest me? You’re arresting someone without even asking what happened first? What kind of pathetic excuse for a cop are you? Or are you just Zhang Wenzhi’s lackey?”
Seeing Liu Xiang fawning over Zhang Wenzhi and bowing obsequiously, even an idiot could tell that this fellow was definitely familiar with Zhang Wenzhi.
“Shen Yifei, would it kill you to say less?!” Liu Xiaoxiao panicked, wishing she could sew Shen Yifei’s mouth shut.
Why did this guy love causing trouble so much? The person they were facing was a police officer!
“You dare to curse at me?” Liu Xiang glared at Shen Yifei, his face immediately darkening.
Are you kidding? As Chief Officer of the Police Affairs Department, besides groveling before his superiors, who else dared to speak to him like that?
“So what if I did? What are you going to do about it?” Shen Yifei said coolly, a hint of mockery on his lips.
“Brat, are you looking for a death wish?” Liu Xiang roared, completely enraged.
“Heh, my, what an impressive display of authority you have. I’d like to see how you’re going to kill me,” Shen Yifei sneered.
A commotion rippled through the jewelry store. More and more onlookers gathered, and the sales assistant and several jewelry store staff came forward to try and intervene.
“Am I the police or are you the police? Get out of my way!” Liu Xiang yelled at the group.
“Chief Liu, no need for more talk, just arrest him and take him to the police station!” Zhang Wenzhi pointed at Shen Yifei, a sinister smile on his face.
“Yes, yes, quickly seize this brute!” The blonde woman chimed in from the side.
“Mr. Zhang, rest assured, I’ll handle this!” Liu Xiang feigned a look of righteous indignation, then bellowed at the police officers behind him: “What are you still standing around for? Quickly apprehend this scoundrel and bring him back to the precinct! I’ll interrogate him personally!”
